The River Learning Trust is celebrating the success of the recent People’s Circle Community Football Tournament, which brought together diverse groups from across Oxford for a vibrant day of sport, enterprise, and connection.

The tournament welcomed an incredible mix of teams, including local football clubs, mosque teams, refugee groups, and under-18 squads, competing in a positive and inclusive environment. Alongside the football, local entrepreneurs were gifted free stall spaces, featuring food vans, coffee, barbers, and photographers to help boost local small businesses.

Key impact & highlights

  • Community Cohesion: Uniting residents of all backgrounds through sport.
  • Youth Empowerment: Offering young volunteers hands-on leadership and event management experience.
  • Professional Standards: Safe, structured play overseen by qualified referees.
  • Healthy Lifestyles: Promoting active participation for all ages.

Stronger together

A huge thank you to Oxford Community Action for their fantastic partnership, and to Leonard and Chris for bringing this event to life.

This tournament demonstrated what’s possible when our community works together towards a shared goal. We look forward to building on this success to make the next event even bigger and better!
